Die Silette L sollte Agfas erste Kleinbildkamera mit eingebauten Belichtungsmesser
sein,  das war eine  Sensation für die Fachwelt im Jahr 1957.
Es kamen verschiedene Objektive aus dem Agfa Angebot zum Einsatz, bis hin
zum Topobjektiv, dem Solinar 1:2,8/50, wie bei diesem Modell.
