Parallel zu der Contax FM  wurde die Pentacon FM aus namensrechtlichen
Gründen  speziell für den Westexport gefertigt. Die Kamera hatte jetzt gegenüber den Vorgängermodellen Contax / Pentacon D  eine Messlupe (Schnittbildindikator),
sowie eine Springblende. In diesem letzten Abschnitt 
der Contax / Pentacon  F-Kameraproduktion wurde die Fertigung an die Kamerawerke Niedersedlitz übertragen, was eine bessere Verchromung, sowie größere Drehknöpfe 
für den Transport und Rückspulung zur Folge hatte.
