Mit der Rollei 35 entstand eine Kamera,  die in den Abmessungen nicht gr��er war
als die  damals gefertigten 16mm Kameras und teilweise noch kleiner als einige Halbformatkameras war. Die Rollei 35 setzte neue Ma�st�be hinsichtlich der Gr��e und der Pr�zision von Kleinbildkameras. Die Kamera sollte aber zun�chst "Rollei Privat" hei�en. Erst im letzten Moment entschied sich Dr. Heinrich Peesel f�r eine Namensstrategie f�r Rollei Kameras. Hiernach sollten die Sucherkameras hinter dem Namen Rollei das Filmformat tragen, in diesem Fall also 35. Die Rollei 35 wurde schnell zum Liebling aller Fotografen, nicht zuletzt wegen der Gr��e, dem Carl Zeiss Tessar Objektiv, dem Compur-Verschluss, sowie dem Belichtungsmesser von Gossen. Der Fotograf, sowohl Amateur wie Profi merkte schnell, dass die Kamera Ergebnisse lieferte, die den gro�en Kameras in nichts nachstand. Mit einer Produktionsst�ckzahl von 312000 Kameras setzte sie den Grundstock zu einer der erfolgreichsten Kameraserien aller Zeiten.

With a production quantity of 312000 camerae it put the basis to one of the most successful camera series of all times.
