II S2

Die Geschichte der Fa. Canon beginnt in November 1933, als zwei Enthusiasten, Goro Yoshida
und Saburo Uchida, die Seiki Kogaku Kenkyujo - etwa Pr�zisionsoptische Werke - gr�ndeten
mit der Idee, die erste japanische 35mm Kamera zu bauen.
Diese Kamera sollte  einer Leica oder Contax Kamera gleichwertig sein.
Die einzige aus dieser Produktion erhaltene Kamera, eine KWANON genannt nach dem
Buddha der Barmherzigkeit, ist eine Nachahmung einer Leica II.
Kameras, die ab 1935 hergestellt und von der Firma Omiya Photo Supply vertrieben wurden,
sind mit deren Markennamen HANSA mit "Hansa Canon" graviert.
Kameras dieses Modells, die direkt verkauft wurden, tragen nur die Gravur Canon.
Ende 1938 folgte die Canon S mit langen Zeiten, aus der 1946 die Canon S II, die erste
Leica-Kopie entwickelt wurde. Aus der S II wurde 1955 die II S2 mit FP-  oder X-Blitzsynchronisation,
erstmals wurde auch die geometrische Verschlusszeitenreihe eingef�hrt sowie eine dreistufige
Suchereinstellung f�r 50mm, 100mm und 135mm Brennweite �hnlich der Suchereinspiegelung der Leica M.

Bereits in April 1956 wurde die Canon VT vorgestellt die mehr oder weniger durch die
Leica M3 beeinflusst war.
